Thank You for the Lessons—I’ll Take It from Here

By Sayna Behkar March 17, 2025

Some lessons arrive wrapped in disappointment, but I’ve learned to unwrap them and turn them into power. Life throws curveballs, and while we can’t always control what comes our way, we can decide how we catch them. If there’s one truth I’ve come to know, it’s this—choosing myself will always be my greatest decision.

We’ve all had moments when life doesn’t go as planned. When someone we trusted lets us down. When we realize that what we believed to be real was nothing more than an illusion. Betrayal, dishonesty, indifference—these things hurt. But here’s the truth: the people who play games with your trust have already lost. They are not in your league, and they never were. No one holds the pen to your story but you.

Strength doesn’t always mean fighting to prove a point. Sometimes, the most powerful move is walking away. It’s recognizing when something no longer aligns with who you are and having the courage to let go—not out of bitterness, but out of self-respect. No explanation or apology can erase the feeling of being disrespected, misled, or undervalued. No amount of words can undo the self-doubt, the sleepless nights, or the moment you realized someone never truly saw your worth.

But here’s the thing: I refused to let those moments define me. I didn’t allow disappointment to turn into bitterness. Instead, I chose myself. I poured my energy into what truly mattered. I focused on growth, on creating, on becoming. And in doing so, I opened doors I didn’t even know existed.

While they were playing games, I was leveling up. Their excuses, their empty words, their expectation that I would wait, tolerate, or shrink myself to fit into the version of me that suited them—that was never my destiny. I chose to become the woman I always knew I could be. Unapologetically. And nothing feels more powerful than stepping into your worth.

To anyone reading this who has been in a similar place, let me remind you: the best revenge is not anger, regret, or sinking to their level. It’s living well. It’s thriving. It’s standing tall and becoming the best version of yourself. Their failure to appreciate your value is their loss, not yours.

If someone’s actions have ever made you question your worth, let me tell you—your worth is not up for debate. The best response is to build a life so fulfilling that their absence feels like a blessing. Walk away when you need to. Choose yourself, without hesitation. You are not someone’s option, someone’s lesson, or someone’s regret.

You are a force. A story in motion. And the future waiting for you is brighter than you can imagine. Own your story—fearlessly and on your own terms.
