Grace in the Grind: Rediscovering the Soul of Work
When I first began writing my dissertation on Sacred Commerce in 2018, I felt like I was walking a tightrope between two worlds: the tangible world of business and finance, and the mystical world of purpose, presence, and soul. My career had taken me through boardrooms, practice consulting, and the fierce demands of entrepreneurship. But underneath the metrics and margins, I always felt a deeper current pulsing through the work: something sacred, something unseen.
Sacred Commerce is not about religion or dogma. It is the acknowledgment that work can be a spiritual practice. It invites us to see every contract, every dollar, every interaction as an energy exchange—an opportunity to express our values, live our truth, and create prosperity without losing our souls in the process.
In my own journey, the grind of CEO life has often felt like sandpaper to my spirit. There were days I questioned whether I had betrayed the deeper calling of my work by staying in the trenches. But what I’ve come to know is this: the world does not need me to perform sacredness on a stage. It needs me to embody it in the middle of the mess—in the hard conversations, the payroll scrambles, the boardroom betrayals.
We don’t need more gurus. We need grounded leaders who understand that healing can happen at a whiteboard just as much as on a meditation mat. I now believe Sacred Commerce isn’t a break from business—it’s the future of business. And it begins by reclaiming grace in the grind. Showing up with integrity. Leading from compassion. And honoring that the greatest work we’ll ever do is the inner work we bring to every outer success.
